Contact us

Trainspotter is built and maintained by a small independent team, and we genuinely enjoy hearing from the people who use the app. Whether you have stumbled across a bug, you have a suggestion for a feature that would make the hobby easier, or you simply want to tell us about a particularly good day's spotting, this page is the right place to start.

The best way to reach us

For almost all enquiries, email is the fastest and most reliable way to get a response. You can write to us directly at hello@trainspotter.uk. We read every message personally, and we aim to reply to genuine enquiries within a few working days. Please be patient if you do not hear back immediately — Trainspotter is not a 24/7 support operation, and messages sent overnight or at weekends will usually be picked up the next working day.

When you email us, please include as much detail as you reasonably can. If you are reporting a bug, tell us which device you are using (iPhone, Android, desktop), which browser if applicable, and the steps you took before things went wrong. A screenshot is worth a thousand words. If you are flagging a data error — a missing service, a wrong calling pattern, a misspelt station name — please include the date, the headcode or RID, and the location where you noticed the problem so we can trace the issue back to the source feed.

Quick contact form

You can also use the form below to compose a message. When you click send, your default email app will open with the subject and body pre-filled — you can edit it freely before sending. We do not store the contents of this form anywhere; everything happens in your browser.

What you can contact us about

Bug reports. If something in the app does not work the way you expect — a button that does nothing, a page that fails to load, a map that shows the wrong area — we want to know. Bug reports are the single most useful kind of message, because they let us improve the experience for every user.

Data corrections. The vast majority of timetable and real-time data shown in Trainspotter comes from external feeds that we do not control. If you see a service that is missing, a platform allocation that looks wrong, or a station name that has been mangled in transit, please tell us. We can often patch the display layer even when the source feed is the underlying cause.

Feature requests. Trainspotter is shaped by the community. If there is something you wish the app could do — exporting your logbook to a spreadsheet, sharing a sighting on social media, supporting a particular heritage line, integrating with another spotting site — please send us your idea. We cannot promise to build everything, but we read every suggestion and prioritise the ones that come up most often.

Account help. If you cannot sign in, cannot reset your password, or want to delete your account and all associated data, get in touch and we will sort it out. You can also delete your own account at any time via the delete my data page or the Spotting tab inside the app.

Press and partnerships. If you are a journalist, blogger, podcaster, or rail industry organisation interested in Trainspotter, we are happy to talk. Please introduce yourself and outline what you have in mind, and we will get back to you with more information.

What we cannot help with

We are not able to help with journey planning, ticket purchases, refunds, lost property, or complaints about train services. For any of those, you should contact the relevant train operating company, National Rail Enquiries, or the Rail Ombudsman. We are also not able to provide bespoke data extracts from the Darwin or Network Rail feeds; those feeds are freely available to anyone who registers directly with the providers.

Privacy when you contact us

Any email you send us is stored only in our mailbox and is used solely to respond to your enquiry. We do not add contact-form senders to any mailing list, and we do not share your email address with third parties. If you would like us to delete an email thread after we have resolved your query, just ask and we will. For full details of how we handle personal data, please read our privacy policy.

Thank you for using Trainspotter, and thank you in advance for taking the time to get in touch. The app gets better every time a user tells us what they think.
