Railtours are special passenger workings run by charter operators using preserved steam, classic diesel or modern stock over routes not normally served by scheduled trains. Major operators include Saphos Trains, Locomotive Services, Vintage Trains, Pathfinder Tours, Statesman Rail, Branch Line Society, SRPS and Riviera. Headcodes beginning 1Z denote passenger charters; 5Z covers empty-stock positioning moves — both are gold for spotters.
